Albemarle Police Reports

Sunday, November 8, 2009 — The Albemarle Police Department reports the following activity:

• Nicolas Garrett Curlee reported an assault and armed robbery, at North Fourth Street, Oct. 24.

• Isaiah Jordan reported a breaking and entering and larceny of laptops, at Glenn Street, Oct. 24.

•Terry Wayne Davis reported obtaining property by false pretenses, at Heath Street, Oct. 25.

• Lauren Rose Morris reported a felony breaking and entering, at West Oakwood Avenue, Oct. 25.

• Abbie Denise Merriman reported damage to property, at East Park Avenue, Oct. 25.

• Eric Antwan Rogers, 23, was arrested on a charge of assault on a female, at South Fourth and East South streets, Oct. 23.

• Billy Eugene Talbert, 19, was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, at N.C. 24-27 Bypass East, Oct. 23.

• Brian Lee Lennon, 28, was arrested on a charge of assault on a female, at East Main Street, Oct. 24.

• Kenton Ar’kayle Sellers, 26, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault on a female, at Old Charlotte Road, Oct. 24.

• Millicent Yvonne Truesdale, 34, was arrested on a charge of failure to return rental property and worthless check, Oct. 24.

• Karen Waddell Cole, 46, was arrested on a charge of worthless check, at North Fifth Street, Oct. 24.

• Yvette Denise Lee, 43, was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor larceny, at South Bell Avenue, Oct. 24.

• Chris Joseph Mccauley, 29, was arrested on a charge of failure to appear, on U.S. 52 North at Salisbury Avenue, Oct. 24.

• Maverick Lee Brooks, 44, was arrested on a charge of damage to personal property, at Arey Avenue, Oct. 24.

• Ker Vang, 55, was issued a citation for failure to attach registration plate in proper location, on Northeast Connector at Moss Springs Road, Oct. 23.

• John Henry Heggins, 40, was issued a citation for no financial responsibility, at Leonard Avenue, Oct. 23.

• Paul Alan Stocks, 49, was issued a citation for not registering vehicle with DMV, on N.C. 24-27 Bypass East at East Main Street, Oct. 23.

• Baron Lamont Mclean, 37, was issued a citation for improper passing, at Concord and Rock Springs roads, Oct. 23.

• Gregory Lloyd Lisk, 32, was issued a citation for an expired, fictitious or cancelled registration card/tag, at Efird and Austin streets, Oct. 23.

    Rides, games, music and more hit the Stanly County Fairgrounds tonight in the form of the 76th annual Stanly County Fair, sponsored by  American Legion Post 76. This year, the rides will be put on by J&J Amusements.

  • Pedestrians, motorists urged to be cautious at Pfeiffer

    A Pfeiffer University student had a brush with death when crossing the road on Wednesday.
    According to Misenheimer Police Chief Tracey Wyrick, the student assumed that an approaching vehicle would stop as a courtesy. This misunderstanding led to the student nearly being struck.

    A local teacher has won one of the highest education awards in the state.
    John Thompson, a business education teacher at West Stanly High School (WSHS), recently received the Orus B. Sutton Award, which is presented to the Outstanding Business and Information Technology Teacher of the Year in North Carolina.

  • Committee discusses renovations to school facilities

    Many of the local schools will be getting a makeover this school year. In its meeting last week, the Stanly County Board of Education Facilities Committee discussed specific renovations to the schools.

    UNC-TV Senior Legislative Correspondent Eszter Vajda is no longer employed at the state’s public television network as of Aug. 18, according to Gail Zimmermann, associate general manager of the station.
