Sunday, December 2, 2012 —
Oakboro celebrated Christmas with lights, music and festivities on Thursday, culminating in a parade down Main Street.
Children of all ages enjoyed the train rides, along with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Sun Trust.
The Oakboro Museum featured a holiday theme to their lighthouse display, with eyes drawn to a Christmas tree decorated with lighthouses.
Oakboro Mayor Danny Long, Miss Stanly County Madison Harvell and Miss Stanly Outstanding Teen Abigail Isenhour were among the speakers at the tree lighting ceremony.
As the night progressed, a parade proceeded down the town’s thoroughfare: bands played, vehicles of all shapes/sizes cruised through and special characters made appearances.
Oakboro Town Commis-sioner Chris Huneycutt organized the event.
