Thursday, November 27, 2008 — Stanly Community College (SCC) played host to 20 universities and military services at the Albemarle campus on Nov. 13.
Representatives were available to answer questions from students regarding transfer opportunities to four-year colleges or branches in the military.
Senior College Day is sponsored by SCC Career/Counseling Services and CACRAO (Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers). CACRAO is an organization of two-year and four-year colleges committed to the advancement of higher education.
Many students attended Senior College Day in an effort to gather information for their chosen field of study. One-on-one conversations eased the minds of those wishing to transfer and continue their education for additional degrees.
“We enjoy being able to offer this service to our students,” said Tony Oettinger, associate dean of Counseling Services for SCC.
“This is a great resource for our students, and being able to talk with a representative from their favorite four-year college, or military branch, really helps keep the student on track with their goals.”
Senior colleges and universities present were: Appa-lachian State University, Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, Catawba College (Day programs), Catawba College (Adult/Evening programs), East Carolina University, Fayetteville State University, Fort Hays State University (Kansas) (Online programs), Gardner-Webb University (GOAL), John-son C.
