Tuesday, November 11, 2008 — Sentencing for a former local DMV worker is scheduled two weeks from Friday.
Susan Honeycutt, 50, a Mt. Pleasant resident who worked as a DMV driver’s license examiner since 1991 will appear before a judge on Nov. 28 at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse in New York, NY.
Honeycutt plead guilty to conspiracy to fraud the United States on Aug. 28. This charge was related to her arrest in late June, stemming from allegations that she knowingly arranged for and issued approximately 150 false licenses to illegal immigrants.
Those licenses, investigators said, were based on fraudulent information and non-existent addresses.
The unsealed complaint filed in U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia’s office states that from around January 2007 through June 2008, Honeycutt, along with Vijendra Gangadeen, Richie Seupersad and others, knowingly agreed and conspired to commit offenses against the United States to transfer false identification to illegal immigrants.
Further, it suggests Gangadeen drove from Queens, N.Y. to North Carolina, where Honeycutt provided him with the fraudulent N.C. driver’s licenses from a DMV office.
As far as what the sentencing possibilities, upon contacting the offices of Judge Colleen McMahon who will preside, no one could be reached.
