Stanly County Sheriff's Report

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 — Stanly County Sheriff’s Office reports the following activity:

• Eric John Morris, of Ryan Road, Richfield, reported the larceny of vehicle parts, Aug. 18.

• Gerald Worth Dunn, of Kenwood Drive, Locust, reported a breaking and entering and larceny, Aug. 19.

• Alfredo Mejia Jaimes, of U.S. 52 South, Albemarle, reported fraud, Aug. 19.

• Cadillac Sign Co., of U.S. 52, Norwood, reported a larceny from a vehicle, Aug. 19.

• Larry Melvin Howell Jr., of River Heights Road, Stanfield, reported the unauthorized use of a vehicle, Aug. 19.

• Christopher Phillip Reichardt, of Deerwood Drive, Stanfield, reported a breaking and entering and larceny of copper lines, Aug. 20.

• Bryan David Medlin, of Austin Road, Stanfield, reported a breaking and entering and larceny of aluminum, Aug. 20.

• Crystal Hall Haskins, of West Whitley Street, Norwood, was issued a warrant on a charge of failure to appear, Aug. 18.

• Donald Craige Snuggs, of West Whitley Street, Norwood, was arrested on a charge of possession of cocaine, possession of opium and possession of schedule VI, Aug. 19.

• Demarco Antonie Colson, of Morningside Avenue, Albemarle, was arrested on a charge of possession of cocaine, Aug. 19.

• Cathy H. Pressley, of Tucker Helms Road, Stanfield, was issued a criminal summons on a charge of damage to property, Aug. 19.

• Michelle Harrington Romaine, of Falls Road, Badin, was issued an order for arrest on a charge of failure to appear, Aug. 19.

• Andrew Dennis Roberson, of Stoker Terrace Road, Albemarle, was issued a warrant on a charge of breaking and entering and larceny, Aug. 19.

• Melvin Charles Minor, of North Kendall Street, Norwood, was issued an order for arrest on a charge of failure to appear, Aug. 19.

• Dustin Harold Kendall, of Whitman Road, Albemarle, was issued a citation for carrying concealed weapon, fictitious registration plate and no financial responsibility, on Aug. 19.

• Cheryl Ann Godwin, of Pennington Road, Albemarle, was issued a citation for a fictitious registration plate, Aug. 21.

• Fred David Wright, of Renee Ford Road, Stanfield, reported damage to a vehicle, Aug. 20.

• Donna Higgins Roberson, of St. Martin Road, Albemarle, reported a breaking and entering and larceny, Aug. 20.

• Linda Kennedy Kimrey, of Hatley Farm Road, Albemarle, reported a larceny, Aug. 21.

• Heather Nicole Laxton, of Millingport Road, New London, reported the unauthorized use of a vehicle, Aug. 22.

• Samuel Scott Mauldin, of Old Cottonville Road, Norwood, reported damage to a windshield, Aug. 23.

• Andrew Dennis Roberson, of Stoker Terrace Road, Albemarle, was issued warrants on charges of breaking and entering and larceny, Aug. 21.

• Thomas Walter Morris, of Pennington Road, Albemarle, was issued a warrant on a charge of fraud, forgery and uttering, Aug. 21.

• Eric Michael Smith, of Thomas Avenue, Oakboro, was issued a warrant on a charge of breaking and entering and larceny, Aug. 22.

• Corey Arivon Jackson, of Highway 106, Mt. Gilead, was issued an order for arrest on a charge of failure to comply, Aug. 24.

• Akima Wall, of West Fifth Street, Oakboro, was issued a warrant on a charge of failure to comply, Aug. 24.

• Richard Dale Morton, of Bear Claw Road, Oakboro, was issued an order for arrest on a charge of failure to appear, Aug. 24.

• Debra Roach, of Zion Church Road, Mt. Gilead, was issued a citation for no financial responsibility, Aug. 20.

• Cliffton Thomas Love, of Polk Ford Road, Stanfield, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcoholic beverage under 21 YOA, Aug. 23.

• Benjamin Daniel Horne, of Nance Road, Stanfield, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcoholic beverage under 21 YOA, Aug. 23.

• Brandon Michael Furr, of Corbin Street, Albemarle, was issued a citation for possession of alcoholic beverage under 21, Aug. 24.

    Rides, games, music and more hit the Stanly County Fairgrounds tonight in the form of the 76th annual Stanly County Fair, sponsored by  American Legion Post 76. This year, the rides will be put on by J&J Amusements.

    With donations still coming in, the school tools campaign has been deemed a success according to Pokie Noland, Stanly County Schools director of student services.

  • Pedestrians, motorists urged to be cautious at Pfeiffer

    A Pfeiffer University student had a brush with death when crossing the road on Wednesday.
    According to Misenheimer Police Chief Tracey Wyrick, the student assumed that an approaching vehicle would stop as a courtesy. This misunderstanding led to the student nearly being struck.

    A local teacher has won one of the highest education awards in the state.
    John Thompson, a business education teacher at West Stanly High School (WSHS), recently received the Orus B. Sutton Award, which is presented to the Outstanding Business and Information Technology Teacher of the Year in North Carolina.

  • Committee discusses renovations to school facilities

    Many of the local schools will be getting a makeover this school year. In its meeting last week, the Stanly County Board of Education Facilities Committee discussed specific renovations to the schools.
