Thursday, May 21, 2009 — The South Stanly Actors Guild will perform “The Pink Panther Strikes Back,” written by William Gleason, May 22-23. The performance will take place at 8 p.m. in the South Stanly High School Theatre.
The play follows Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau, a great fumbling French detective, on his escapade to capture a former colleague, Detective Dreyfus, who has escaped from an insane asylum.
Along the way, Clouseau stumbles into various ploys for his death, meets his love interest who is destined to kill him, and stops the Doomsday Machine from destroying the world. All by mere accident, this slapstick comedy is a roar that will leave you gasping for air.
“The Pink Panther will be exceptionally funny for actors and audience members alike,” said director, Chuck Carte.
“We wanted to break out of the conventional norm and do something everyone would enjoy.”
Student involvement is critical for production of the show, Brittany Mathena, assistant director, said.
“Out of my four years in Theatre Arts, this has been the hardest and most rewarding,” Mathena said.
“We all had to pull our strengths and find our place to bring it all together. In the end, I believe this show is worth coming out to see. As a reward, you will get loads of laughs, sore ribs and an all-around good time.”
Tickets will be available for purchase at the door each night of the show. The price will be $3. The show is appropriate for all ages.
