Thursday, July 9, 2009 — Saturday, Aug. 22, the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce will host its 16th Annual Reverse Raffle at the Senior Center in Albemarle from 6-10 p.m.
This popular event promises to be bigger and livelier than ever with the theme for the evening entitled “PROM 2009: AN EVENING UNDER THE STARS.”
From “A Taste of Stanly County” and its variety of food samples to entertainment featuring music by Beach, Boogie, & Blues DJ’s, delicious refreshments that include the specialty drink; “Prom Punch” to a silent auction, reverse raffle and valuable door prizes, there is something for everyone.
“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Chamber President & CEO Tom Ramseur.
“The net income enables us to produce and fund community programs such as Leadership Stanly, Workforce Development and other business development initiatives.”
Many Stanly County businesses are represented at this event. Restaurants participating in The Taste of Stanly County are Harmanco’s, Badin Inn Golf Resort & Club, Albemarle Sweet Shop, Jake’s Java Coffee House, Johnathan’s Restaurant, Sagebrush Steakhouse, Hink’s Grill, The Eagle’s Nest Restaurant, CJ’s Bakery, and many more.
Refreshments include adult beverages, soft drinks, as well as the specialty drink.
Emcee, John Mullis will be announcing the reverse raffle tickets as they are drawn. This year’s silent auction will feature bidding on fine art, sports memorabilia, rounds of golf, private dinners, and much more.
“I am truly excited to be a part of this event. Our committee has worked very hard to come up with different and unique ideas to make this event an even bigger success than last year”, said Dr. Connie Eckman.
Each raffle ticket gets two chances to win cash.
The last ticket drawn wins $3,000 and runners-up win $1,000 and $500.
Five $100 Chamber Checks will be awarded throughout the evening and other drawings will take place during the event.
There will also be a special crowning of the King and Queen of the evening that gives you another chance to win some awesome prizes. Dress is casual, but party-goers are welcome to wear prom-themed attire.
Tickets are $100 per couple and with less than 300 available for sale, the odds of winning are great.
