New room at Norwood Museum
Tuesday, July 7, 2009 — Norwood Museum, 205 Pee Dee Ave., will have an open house and new room dedication from 2-4 p.m. July 12.
The McMahon Room will be dedicated during a ceremony at 2:30. The room features military memorabilia. During the ceremony VFW Post 6183 will feature photographs of service personnel who died during war time with a roll call. VFW Post 6183 Ladies Auxiliary will present a quilt like ones they make for wounded service personnel from Afghani-stan and Iraq for their return trip to the U.S.
North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Field Associates Tony Furr of Norwood and Ruffin Tucker of Concord will have displays of fossils they have found in Stanly County. The museum will be open for the public to view and participants will be available to answer questions.
Refreshments will be served.

Gas Price Update
North Carolina, NC, March 15- Average retail gasoline prices in North Carolina have risen 2.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.74/g today. This compares with the national average that has increased 3.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.78/g, according to gasoline price website NorthCarolinaGasPrices.com.
