Sunday, July 5, 2009 — Congressman Larry Kissell announced $52,152,687 has been awarded to North Carolina through the U.S. Housing and Urban Development as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
βThe funding will help the state put good people to work building affordable homes. It is a common-sense solution to a desperate need in our communities,β Kissell said. β
This is positive step as we continue to focus on turning our troubled economy around.β
The program, Tax Credit Assistance Program, allows 26 state housing finance agencies to resume funding affordable rental housing projects, helping to stimulate the construction industry which has been hard-hit in the recession.
