Locust bank robbery suspect faces charge from Oakboro
The Oakboro Police Department has added to the charges against a Locust bank robbery suspect.
Brett Anthony Hamrick, 50, was charged with common law robbery by the Locust Police Department in connection with the armed robbery that occurred at First Bank in Locust on Feb. 22. -

Agriculture grants available to farmers
Fruit and vegetable farmers can now apply for two cost-share grants offered through the N.C. Depart-ment of Agriculture and Consumer Services to assist with the costs of water analysis and independent certification of an operation’s good agricultural practices.

Habitat raises funds to build next project
Stanly County Habitat for Humanity will have a barbecued chicken fundraiser from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. March 11.
The proceeds from the event will be used toward Habitat’s next building. -
3 teens arrested in stolen ATV case

Gas Price Update
North Carolina, NC, March 8- Average retail gasoline prices in North Carolina have risen 3.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.70/g today. This compares with the national average that has increased 4.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.74/g, according to gasoline price website NorthCarolinaGasPrices.com.
