3 face burglary, kidnapping charges

Tuesday, June 30, 2009 — Three Salisbury residents have been arrested and charged in a dispute that occurred in Misenheimer and is believed to be the result of some previous and current domestic issues, according to law enforcement officials.

Michelle Stirewalt, Wesley Smith and Hershel Nathan Davis III were all charged with one count of first degree burglary, second degree kidnapping and assault inflicting serious bodily injury — all felonies.

According to Tracey Wyrick, chief of police for The Village of Misenheimer, the incident was reported on June 18 at Davison Apartments, where individuals forcefully entered a residence there around 11:30 p.m. while the victims were asleep. The suspects allegedly entered a room and physically assaulted the victims and forcibly removed a female victim to another room within the home.

Rowan County Sheriff’s Office assisted in apprehending the suspects.

Stirewalt, who is believed to have transported the assailants, was put under a $50,000 unsecured bond and has been released from jail.

Smith and Davis are under $50,000 secured bonds and are being held in the Stanly County Jail.

All three suspects are to appear in district court Aug. 4.
