Tuesday, March 9, 2010 — Stanly County Partners in Health is sponsoring a rather unique activity to get Stanly County citizens up and moving.
“The Search for the Gold — Shoes of Course!” is the name members of the group devised, with its duration running March 17-27.
“Golden shoes will be hidden in various parks throughout the county that we want families to go find, thus the get up and moving part,” said Karen E. Brown, coordinator of the event. Shoes will be hidden in parks in Oakboro, Locust, Norwood, Richfield, Badin and Albemarle’s Chuck Morehead, Rock Creek and City Lake parks.
Every shoe will have a tag instructing those who find it where to turn the shoe in, and will give some information as to what Partners in Health is all about.
The shoes will later be collected on March 27 from 1-3 p.m. at the Locust Day in the Park event. Every person that brings a golden shoe to the Partners in Health booth during this date will receive a prize, which include pedometers, beach towels, gold balls, iPods, a Nintendo Wii and a four person kayak trip. Prizes are limited to one shoe per person.
More information can be obtained through Brown at (704) 985-0948.
