Russ and Terry Barbee of Oakboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Carolyn Joey Barbee of Oakboro, to Dakota Reece Smith of Locust, son of Tony and Kathy Smith of Locust.
Carolyn is the granddaughter of Gwen Barbee and the late Billy Joe Barbee of Oakboro and the late Craig and Carolyn Burrs, formerly of Oakboro.
Miss Barbee is a 2003 graduate of West Stanly High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a teacher at Aquadale Elementary School.
Mr. Smith is a 2002 graduate of West Stanly High School. He is owner and operator of Smith Concrete & Services.
Dakota is the grandson of Reece Smith and the late Ruby Smith of Locust and Oscar and Bonnie Pethel of Locust.
The wedding is planned for 6 p.m. September 15, 2012, at the home of the bride’s parents in Oakboro.
