Bobby Harold Barbee and Jacqueline Pethel Barbee celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home in Locust with a drop-in gala hosted by their children and grandchildren.
The couple was married on Aug. 12, 1962, by Rev. Crawford White in Locust Presbyterian Church in Locust.
Mrs. Barbee is the former Jacqueline Pethel and is the daughter of the late C.V. and Ruth Bridges of Kannapolis.
Mr. Barbee is the son of the late Relus and Joy Barbee of Locust.
Their children are Tammy Burleson and husband Trent, Michelle Soots and husband Monty, Crystal Moore and husband Danny, Julie Svenson and husband David and Bobby Barbee Jr. and wife Jennifer, all of Locust.
The couple also has 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Barbee was presented a bouquet of roses and Oriental lilies.
The four-layered red velvet cake, made and decorated by Crystal Barbee Moore, was wrapped in lace and adorned with red crystal flowers.
