Katelyn Ann Marks and Derek Edward Drye, both of Winston-Salem, were united in marriage November 12, 2011 at Pinedale Christian Church in Winston-Salem.
Ministers Jon Hauser and Jeff Marks, the bride’s father, officiated at the 3:30 p.m. ceremony. Wedding musicians were pianist, Kay Peeler, and vocalists, Aaron and Emily Pelsue. The groom, who accompanied himself on the guitar, sang a surprise solo to the bride, “My Only Love.”
The bride is the daughter of Jeff and Debbie Marks of Winston-Salem. She is the granddaughter of Willard and Florence Marks of Virginia and Charles Plummer and the late Lourania Plummer of Ohio.
The groom is the son of Mr. Tim E. Drye, Jr. and the late Sandra Dee Martin Drye of Thomasville. He is the grandson of Tim and Yvonne Drye of Thomasville, and Bootie Martin and the late George Martin of Hillsville. Derek is the great-grandson of Walter R. Chandler and the late Marie Leonard Chandler of Albemarle.
Escorted by her father, the bride was attended by Kristen Adkins, Matron of Honor, sister of the bride; Joey Benedict, Matron of Honor, friend of the bride; Meredith Beeker, Anne Wilson, Alison Hicks, friends of the bride; Jessica Plummer and Hannah Marks, cousins of the bride.
Honorary attendants were Emily Proctor, Emily Tucker, Haley Moore, Haley Compton, Anna Breeden, and Jordan Greer. Laura Koontz registered guests and Eva Lovell and Annabel Cannoy, cousins of the groom, distributed programs.
The groom chose Zach Morris of Winston-Salem to serve as best man. Groomsmen were Brock Adkins, brother-in-law of the bride; Eddie Drye, father of the groom; Dylan Drye, brother of the groom; Zach Pierce and Paul Hicks, friends of the groom. Ushers were Jordan Greer and Nathan Marks.
Flower girl was Kinsey Adkins of Winston-Salem, niece of the bride. Ringbearer was Miller McKnight, friend of the bride.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted on Friday, November 11 by the groom’s father, Eddie Drye, and grandparents, Tim and Yvonne Drye, at Childress Vineyards in Lexington. The reception was held at Winmock in Advance, N.C. (Bermuda Run).
The bride is a graduate of North Davidson High School and studied voice at The North Carolina School of the Arts. She is lead vocalist for the Katelyn Marks Band.
The groom was an honor graduate of Ledford High School where he was a member of the Beta Club and marching band. He was a dean’s list student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He is presently lead guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and manager of the Katelyn Marks Band.
Following a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Winston-Salem.
