Sunday, June 28, 2009 — James and Julia Shankle of Albemarle announce the engagement of their daughter, Melinda Jo Shankle, to Chase Edward Melton, son of Eddie and Carol Melton of Norwood. Miss Shankle is the granddaughter of Ruby Furr of Albemarle and the late Paul Junior Furr and the late Vic and Gladys Shankle. She is a 2007 graduate of North Stanly High School and graduated from Stanly Community College with an AAS in criminal justice. She is a firefighter for Center Rural Fire & Rescue. Mr. Melton is the grandson of the late L.J. and Helen Tucker and the late Vance and Becky Melton. He graduated from South Stanly High School in 2003. He is a firefighter and first responder for Center Rural Fire & Rescue and works for the NCDOC. A wedding is planned for August, 2009, in Norwood.
