Carolyn Barbee and Cody Smith were united in marriage on September 15, 2012, at the home of the bride’s parents in Oakboro. Pastor Brandon Bowers officiated the 6 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Russ and Terry Barbee of Oakboro. Her grandparents are Gwen Barbee of Oakboro and the late Billy Joe Barbee and the late Carolyn and Craig Burris, formerly of Oakboro.
The bride is a 2003 graduate of West Stanly High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a teacher at Aquadale Elementary School.
The groom is the son of Tony and Kathy Smith of Locust. His grandparents are Oscar and Bonnie Pethel of Locust and Reece Smith of Locust and the late Ruby Smith.
The groom is a 2002 graduate of West Stanly High School. He is owner and operator of Smith Concrete & Services.
The bride’s dress was made of beautiful delicate Guipore lace, from head to toe. The lace was adorned with Swarvoski cut crystals. The hem of the gown was complimented by pleated organza all the way around the elegant sweep train.
Emily Hathcock served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Leah Morrissette, Tiffany Barbee, Courtney Hatley and Jerika Smith. Junior bridesmaid was Ava Whitley. Livvie Whitley was the flower girl and Danielle Hartsell served as an attendant.
The father of the groom, Tony Smith, served as best man. Groomsmen were Benny Carelock, Graham Barbee, Matthew Hathcock, Phillip Hatley, Michael Smolka and Jamin Brown. Gavin Whitley served as ring bearer.
Trey Barbee, Aiden Hathcock, Averie Hatley and Stella Carelock were Here Comes The Bride Kids. Judy Tucker was the wedding director.
An instrumental string quartet provided the music.
Honored guests included Dennis and Debbie Chaney, Keith and Lovenia Burleson, Brantley and Erin Whitley, Anna Barbee, Larry and Linda Hatley, Archie and Judy Love and Aaron and Betty Huneycutt.
A reception followed the ceremony at the home of the bride’s parents.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner on the eve of the wedding at Rosebriar in Albemarle.
A bridesmaid luncheon was hosted by the bride’s mother on the Saturday before the wedding.
After a honeymoon trip to Saint Lucia, the couple is making their home in Oakboro.
