I would like to point out that much of the economic recession is a result of excessive regulations and extreme environmental policies that punish business and industry. Piling on is a public perception that applying excessive pressure on industry makes the air and water more clean. There is a general lack of appreciation for how “jobs” and economic prosperity come to be. Where is the balance?
The EPA and their rules and actions are crushing mining, manufacturing and the construction of new coal-fueled power plants. The EPA and the anti-business attitudes rules of the Obama Administration are clearly focused against productive American business and industry. We have examples of this coast to coast.
What does that have to do with Stanly County? Use ALCOA as an example. Why don’t we get behind ALCOA, elect two new pro business county commissioners and get on with rebuilding industry in Stanly County? What did spending over $5 million in legal costs buy us? As I see it, it just validates the anti-business attitude of our county’s leaders. It is time for a change.
We can start looking forward to an improved quality of life, better jobs and economic prosperity by standing up for what is right.
The Badin Industrial Park is the best equipped industrial site in over a 30 mile radius.
Supporting Alcoa is a good start in changing our county to being “Open for Business.”

Applauding the commissioners
In response to the recent article by Brian Graves regarding Clean Tech, I think that our county commissioners should be commended for their stand against Clean Tech’s offering jobs in exchange for Alcoa to be relicensed to operate the hydro dams on the Yadkin-Pee Dee.

Budget tips
The government has a problem with the budget. Why? The Republicans and the Democrats blame one another. Why? Don’t they both spend the money? Foolishly.
