Thanks to many, we have our dog back

Monday, October 22, 2012 — I can’t say enough about all the help and prayers we received when our dog, Sugar, went missing. She’s been with us since her birth, 10 years ago.

When she slipped out of her collar Oct. 5 in Red Cross, our hearts broke. We live in Locust and for a little dog, that’s a long way from home. We had to find her. She’s not just a pet, she’s our family.

We started looking, from morning until night, with no luck, until after 54 hours we found her.

I want to thank a lot of family, friends and even people who we don’t know their names. We received so much love and support, it was amazing.

There were people helping us search, making calls, putting out flyers and even using the Internet.

There were two good Samaritans, if you want to call them that.

While we were out, a lady who lives on N.C. 205 called our cell phone and told me about seeing a dog who was looking lost and scared, crossing N.C. 205. She went to get the flyer we left her and the dog looked like ours. She called her name, Sugar, and she raised her ears and ran.

We immediately went there and started yelling, and it seemed like forever. We jumped out of the car and started searching. Then all of a sudden, I saw her ears peaking, and she and I couldn’t get to each other fast enough.

That’s where the second angel came. I have a health problem which can make me pass out. I have an arrhythmia. I was holding my dog and the man who lived there had come home. I told him to help me grab my dog before I passed out, and Sugar bit him, but between him and my husband, we’re together again.

The government has a problem with the budget. Why? The Republicans and the Democrats blame one another. Why? Don’t they both spend the money? Foolishly.
