Voting through biblical values

Thursday, August 30, 2012 — In 2008, there were approximately 281,000 unregistered Christians in North Carolina, while the two major candidates for president were separated by just 14,000 votes. That doesn’t include those who were registered and didn’t vote or those who voted and were not informed.

Matthew 5:13-16 says that we, the people of God, are the “salt of the earth” and the “light of the world.” Yet, declining values and the erosion of our culture testify to the fact that we have lost our saltiness and our light has gone dim.

For too long, we have accepted the lie that the truth of God’s Word has no place in our politics and government. However, it was God’s Word that inspired our founders to acknowledge free speech and the free exercise “of,” not “from,” religion.

Therefore, we are without excuse. If we want the unborn to live, we must protect them. If we want the institution of marriage to thrive, we must preserve it. And if we want truth to reign in our culture, we must proclaim it.

To that end, my wife and I are partnering with pastors and churches across Stanly County to launch a get-out-the-vote campaign called “Vote for Truth NC.” Our mission is to inspire and equip the local church to speak biblical truth into the political process and encourage Christians to vote their biblical values.

Let’s be the “salt” and “light” Christ called us to be. 1) Get registered, 2) Get informed and 3) Get to the polls. Go to www.vot efortruthnc.com and see how you can get your church involved.
