Having served in the U.S. Army and as the Veterans’ Service Officer for Stanly County, I know military veterans possess qualities our communities need in its elected officials.
Military veterans have proven their outstanding leadership skills that have been developed in the most challenging of situations; clear thinking decision-making because they have been trained to remain calm and rational in the worst of circumstances; a work ethic that demonstrates a solid commitment to excellence; a clear understanding that decisions have consequences that affect lives; and probably most importantly, veterans have demonstrated that this country and its citizens come before their own well-being. Now more than ever, we need military veterans to serve as public officials. When you cast your ballot, please vote for John R. Nance for District Court Judge.
Nance is a 20-year U.S. Army veteran. He possesses each of the traits listed above.
Vote for an ethical military veteran for District Court Judge, vote John R. Nance.

Applauding the commissioners
In response to the recent article by Brian Graves regarding Clean Tech, I think that our county commissioners should be commended for their stand against Clean Tech’s offering jobs in exchange for Alcoa to be relicensed to operate the hydro dams on the Yadkin-Pee Dee.

Budget tips
The government has a problem with the budget. Why? The Republicans and the Democrats blame one another. Why? Don’t they both spend the money? Foolishly.
