I am proud to say that I am on the staff at Richfield Elementary School, where I have served as a custodian for more than 10 years. I can truly say that I love my job. The children are wonderful to be around and the faculty and staff are so dedicated.
At a time when tax money to schools is cut more and more, I see Richfield’s staff just work harder to do more with less. I see our parents support our school in a manner that shows a strong commitment to our young people.
If our youth is our future, then our future is looking good. We are fortunate to have great schools in Stanly County like Richfield.
Yes, traffic has been a problem at Richfield in the past, but our principal and staff have really worked hard to minimize the congestion. The lines are shorter and faster and the situation is much better this year due to everyone working together.
I would like to make a statement to any Richfield town officials who may happen to read this letter. Any money that you spend on Richfield School is money well spent. Asphalt may not be as important as books, but neglected streets do send a message that is easily observed. We do appreciate the repairs that were made this summer, but we still have paving needs.
If the mayor is correct and the town has money for street repairs, please include School Street at Richfield School in the future. This street has been neglected in the past for one reason or another. Richfield School definitely needs your financial support.

Applauding the commissioners
In response to the recent article by Brian Graves regarding Clean Tech, I think that our county commissioners should be commended for their stand against Clean Tech’s offering jobs in exchange for Alcoa to be relicensed to operate the hydro dams on the Yadkin-Pee Dee.

Budget tips
The government has a problem with the budget. Why? The Republicans and the Democrats blame one another. Why? Don’t they both spend the money? Foolishly.
