Each birthday is special, but you have made this year’s 90th birthday one I’ll never forget.
I had the pleasure of taking my mother to the Stanly County Senior Center for an annual 90+ Birthday Party. It was for all Stanly County residents who were 90+ years young.
The theme was a Hawaiian Luau and the table decorations could not have been more appropriate. The hula dancers were very entertaining. They even got some group participation on stage.
I would like to give special thanks to director Becky Weemhoff and her staff, the business sponsors, transporters and the volunteers. The wonderful event would not have been possible without the help of many people.
Again, thank you. My mother and I had a ball. We are already looking forward to next year.

Applauding the commissioners
In response to the recent article by Brian Graves regarding Clean Tech, I think that our county commissioners should be commended for their stand against Clean Tech’s offering jobs in exchange for Alcoa to be relicensed to operate the hydro dams on the Yadkin-Pee Dee.

Budget tips
The government has a problem with the budget. Why? The Republicans and the Democrats blame one another. Why? Don’t they both spend the money? Foolishly.
