I would like to set the record straight on what I stand for regarding the upcoming election. In summary, here are the candidates that I support:
President, Mitt Romney because he understands and supports capitalism, free markets, fewer regulations and more domestic energy production.
Vice President, Paul Ryan, same as Romney but in addition, stands for and is well versed in financial responsibility.
The EPA is out of control on a national level and has excessive regulations on mining, manufacturing, energy production, and yes, job creation in America.
However, on the Yadkin River situation, for all of the criticisms of pollution of the Yadkin River, Alcoa has been found to be responsible and more of a victim of upstream contaminants that flow into the river, such as livestock waste, sewage and storm water runoff containing PCBs.
I support Jim Lisk and Peter Asciutto for county commissioners. These men are both experienced in and support business and industry. Yes, Jim Lisk is a Democrat. It is the local elections that have made me vote as an Independent. Here in Stanly County, because a candidate is a Republican, one cannot assume he is “Pro Business” and pro job creating industry.
It is time to elect citizens who care about the best interests of our entire community. Sure, the river flow and water is important. So are jobs and an America that builds things. The river flow through the dams is regulated by FERC and other regulations, no matter who owns the dams. Saying: “ it is all about the water” is a smokescreen for being anti-Alcoa, having a hidden agenda or just being anti-industry.

Applauding the commissioners
In response to the recent article by Brian Graves regarding Clean Tech, I think that our county commissioners should be commended for their stand against Clean Tech’s offering jobs in exchange for Alcoa to be relicensed to operate the hydro dams on the Yadkin-Pee Dee.

Budget tips
The government has a problem with the budget. Why? The Republicans and the Democrats blame one another. Why? Don’t they both spend the money? Foolishly.
