I am writing in reference to Huck Huckabee’s letter to the editor.
First of all, I don’t think the working population has enough time in the day to wait around for an investigation on why Clean Tech did not take the offer of the Wiscassett Mills property.
I grew up in Maryville-Alcoa area in Tennessee. This area is a thriving community where most citizens do not ballroom dance around important issues. My dad was employed by Alcoa and retired from Alcoa. My high school classmates, Alcoans.
This company allowed a growing family to have all four children in braces at the same time. Unheard of in the 1970s. Alcoa has done a tremendous amount of conservation to this area while supplying the growing needs of working class families. If Clean Tech chooses it’s location, then I personally believe no one should tell this company what facility they need to use. I believe for a number of years Alcoa has managed without the advice of outsiders to run their corporate planning and development.
Especially those that were able to personally choose their own locations for their own businesses.
(But now are no longer in business themselves).
Alcoa is still a large employer across the nation and overseas.
One doesn’t need an MBA to figure this out.
What’s in the best interest for Alcoa and its employees past, present and future lies within the company, not someone who has never worked for a corporation but has all the time in the world to continuously write letters to the editor. Must be nice. The rest of us have to work to pay our bills.
Cheers.

Applauding the commissioners
In response to the recent article by Brian Graves regarding Clean Tech, I think that our county commissioners should be commended for their stand against Clean Tech’s offering jobs in exchange for Alcoa to be relicensed to operate the hydro dams on the Yadkin-Pee Dee.

Budget tips
The government has a problem with the budget. Why? The Republicans and the Democrats blame one another. Why? Don’t they both spend the money? Foolishly.
