Showing respect in a tragic situation

Tuesday, August 10, 2010 — I want to write to say thank you for the way the front page article was written about Jesse Kidd and the remarks that were made on the editorial page (Our View, Aug. 3). It showed the utmost respect and compassion for the family, as well as those who were there that night helping.

I was there that night. It was a horrific site and a terrible tragedy. I agree with you, that we live in a sad society that would want to see that image plastered on the front page of a newspaper.

I can honestly say, I can’t get the images of that terrible night out of my head, so I was relieved that the tribute to Jesse did not include that picture. This was a sad, tragic accident.

Thank you again for the compassion you and this newspaper showed. It is greatly appreciated.

  • Tired of all the lies

The people of Stanly County have been lied to and are unknowingly spreading those same lies regarding ALCOA and the Stanly County Commissioners. The only way to find the correct solution to the re-licensing is for the truth to be told.
