The election process is pretty simple. You go to the board of elections, fill out the proper forms, pay the filing fee and bring your message to the people.
On Nov. 6 after the votes are tallied, the candidates with the most votes become elected officials.
My message to you, over the last eight months, has been more than the ALCOA issue and Senate Bill 411. It’s been about getting a fresh set of eyes on the Stanly County Board of Commissioners.
Stanly County is a wonderful place to live. We have the resources to attract new industry if we create the proper business-friendly atmosphere.
Our resources include an airport, close proximity to Charlotte, Concord, Winston-Salem and Greensboro. Stanly Community College and Pfeiffer University are two outstanding institutes of higher learning that are valuable assets in our backyard.
Our beautiful rural setting is great for tourism and agriculture. Morrow Mountain State Park, Badin Lake and Lake Tillery attract thousands of visitors to Stanly County annually. With half our acreage dedicated to farming, agriculture is one of our strongest industries.
You, the people, are Stanly County’s most valuable asset. Friendly folks that are willing to work hard to bring home the bacon.
The next time opportunity comes knocking on the door, I’d like to be on that welcoming committee to help paint a picture of how wonderful it would be to relocate or start up a business within our county lines.
Taking the time to vote early or on Nov. 6 gives you the power to select our next elected officials.
Your support and vote would be greatly appreciated.
Peter Asciutto
Candidate for
Stanly County
Commissioner

Applauding the commissioners
In response to the recent article by Brian Graves regarding Clean Tech, I think that our county commissioners should be commended for their stand against Clean Tech’s offering jobs in exchange for Alcoa to be relicensed to operate the hydro dams on the Yadkin-Pee Dee.

Budget tips
The government has a problem with the budget. Why? The Republicans and the Democrats blame one another. Why? Don’t they both spend the money? Foolishly.
