On behalf of our daughter, Jennifer Brewer, we would like to thank all the kind people who made it possible for her to exhibit her drawings at the Falling Rivers Gallery.
The wonderful people at the ARC directed us to Nancy Lipe at the Gallery who gladly made the arrangements, sending us to The Stanly News & Press to publicize the event.
Staff writer Erica Benjamin came both to our home and the Gallery, interviewing Jennifer and the family and going to the Gallery to take pictures of her and her art which appeared in the Sept. 25 issue of the SNAP, along with a great article.
Nancy Lipe created posters for the event and provided a reception for Jennifer and the family and friends on the last day of the show.
There were many more people involved, all of whom were supportive and encouraging.
While this was an exciting time for both Jennifer and our family and friends, we hope it will encourage other disabled people. Too many people think the disabled are not capable of what Jennifer has done.
With the help of the Gallery and the SNAP, we hope more people will be eager to follow their dreams.
Sincerely,
Linda and David Brewer

We are not the bad guy
This letter is for staff writer Ian Faulkner. You do not seem to think the threat from North Korea is serious. Read your history of war. I’m glad that our country takes it serious.

Applauding the commissioners
In response to the recent article by Brian Graves regarding Clean Tech, I think that our county commissioners should be commended for their stand against Clean Tech’s offering jobs in exchange for Alcoa to be relicensed to operate the hydro dams on the Yadkin-Pee Dee.

Budget tips
The government has a problem with the budget. Why? The Republicans and the Democrats blame one another. Why? Don’t they both spend the money? Foolishly.
