Growing up I heard my granddaddy tell many stories about the years he worked for Stanly Funeral Home. He spoke fondly of the Aldridge family and their caring ways.
My granddaddy was a bi-vocational Southern Baptist minister and in 1958 he moved to Albemarle as the pastor of Dunn’s Grove Baptist Church. In the same year he also began working at the funeral home.
He loved helping people whether that was preaching the hope of the gospel or offering comfort to grieving families he met at the funeral home.
Three weeks ago, Granddaddy called Stanly Funeral Home and told them his health was failing due to congestive heart failure and when the time came, he wanted them taking care of his family.
In the early morning of Feb. 22, just 10 days after that phone call, our family called Stanly Funeral to fulfill Granddaddy’s wishes as he had passed away at home.
My family was overwhelmed with the care and kindness shown to us by Stanly Funeral Home. Granddaddy would have been so proud of how we were cared for.
Stanly County is very fortunate to have this family owned and operated funeral home meeting the needs of the community for more than 80 years.
I now completely understand Granddaddy’s affection towards the Aldridge family and Stanly Funeral Home.

Tired of all the lies
The people of Stanly County have been lied to and are unknowingly spreading those same lies regarding ALCOA and the Stanly County Commissioners. The only way to find the correct solution to the re-licensing is for the truth to be told.
