CHARLOTTE — The Carolina Thread Trail announces the appointment of Lindsey Dunevant in the newly-created position of Capital Resource Director.
Dunevant will provide support to Carolina Thread Trail (The Thread) communities by identifying local, state and federal funding opportunities to support the 15-county network of trails and conservation areas connecting more than 2 million people in the Carolinas.
He will work closely with elected officials and community leaders to maximize the return on public funding opportunities and plays a critical role facilitating community access to public funds.
Additionally, Dunevant will focus on attracting dedicated resources for land conservation in the region.
Dunevant’s professional and volunteer leadership experience demonstrates a lifelong commitment to public recreation and land conservation, a spokesperson for the Carolina Thread Trail said.
He served as the director of Albemarle Parks and Recreation for more than 20 years and has been a Stanly County commissioner since 2006. He is a board member for the Land Trust for Central North Carolina.
Dunevant was active in the initial discovery process leading up to the launch of The Thread and has served on the organization’s Regional Advisory Council since the project’s inception in 2007.
“Lindsey’s deep understanding of regional conservation issues and public funding channels make him an invaluable asset to The Thread communities as they seek funding to build trails and establish conservation corridors throughout the region,” said Ann Browning, project director for The Thread.
“He’ll support local trail committees and staff as their ‘public funding consultant’ and help them secure financial support for local trail segments.”
