During recent restructuring of the Cisco Networking Academy Program, Stanly Community College (SCC) was named the Academy Support Center for North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
Cisco, in recognition of Stanly’s 10-plus year commitment to excellence, picked SCC from among multiple other contenders for this strategic partnership.
“It is an acknowledgment of SCC’s support of the Cisco Networking Academy in general and the strong focus of the college on teaching technology in all its programs specifically that moved us to the top of the applicants,” said Trent Helms, the Academy Support Center lead contact at SCC.
“SCC has the resources in place to teach technology seated, online, and in various blended formats to meet the needs of the Cisco Academies we support.”
SCC has also been named an Instructor Training Center in the new Academy Evolution. In fact, SCC is one of the only schools in the southeast to have two Academy qualified instructor trainers on staff.
Helms and Kelly Caudle obtained the qualification after attending a rigorous two-day testing process in Minneapolis in December 2011.
“SCC has been a leader in training instructors at other community colleges, universities and high schools throughout North Carolina for the past 12 years. Now, with the distinction of being an Instructor Training Center, we will be able to offer training to schools throughout the United States,” said Caudle, SCC’s Instructor Training Center lead contact.
