Gray Stone Day School ranks 10th out of approximately 513 public high schools in North Carolina on the SAT for 2012.
With an overall score of 1705, Gray Stone was well above the national average of 1498 and the state average of 1469, with 98 percent of the students taking the test. The school’s SAT average increased 44 points over last year. The only school in the Charlotte area with a higher score was Providence High School at 1708.
Other schools across the state with higher scores were North Carolina School of Science and Math at 1995 and North Carolina School of the Arts at 1710. The Early College at Guilford had the highest score at 2051. Raleigh Charter and the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Schools all ranked in the top 10.
“Gray Stone Day School is in good company as it is listed with such strong urban schools in the state,” said Helen Nance, Chief Adm-inistrative Officer.
“Our mission is to prepare rural students to compete academically with urban students and our test scores show we are meeting our mission. The SAT is an indicator of how well a student will perform at the college level. We know our students from Gray Stone are ready to attend colleges and universities across the country and excel.”
