Stanly Community College (SCC) is one of 16 community colleges that received grant funding to offer training through the North Carolina (N.C.) Back-to-Work program.
This program is funded by the N.C. General Assembly and the N.C. Department of Commerce Division of Workforce Solutions.
The program, established by the General Assembly and included as part of the 2012-13 state budget, is geared toward long-term unemployed North Carolinians.
The N.C. Back-to-Work program will target residents who have exhausted their unemployment benefits in the last 12 months and provide them with resources for job training.
All individuals who successfully complete the program will receive: completion certificates, the Career Readiness Certificate and their program specific stackable credentials.
SCC President Dr. Brenda Kays said, “Stanly Community College is proud to have been entrusted with this funding from the General Assembly. It is a reflection of the quality and variety of training offered at the institution. These funds will be used to help students enter training programs that will culminate with the award of various industry recognized certifications. Individuals who possess professional certifications have a better chance of attracting employer interest during the job seeking process and ultimately reentering the workforce.”
