The Stanly Community College (SCC) Foundation Lecture Series will host its third event on Sept. 25, featuring Albemarle author J.C. Boone.
This free presentation will be held in the Kelley building on the Albemarle campus at 7 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.
Dr. Boone’s most recent accolade is the writing of his book titled “Hitler at the Obersalzberg”.
His research for this book led him to exclusive interviews with Hitler’s sister (Paula Hitler), Hitler’s immediate superior in WWI (Johann Langwieder), and Hitler’s personal pilot from 1932-1945 (Hans Baur).
The author’s interest in this topic peaked while he served in the U.S. Army stationed in Berchtesgaden, Germany.
The book features seldom-known insights into the private life of Adolf Hitler and his activities while in the Nazi community known as Obersalzberg from 1923 until 1945.
Last year, Boone was invited by ZDF German National Television to return to Germany and participate in a documentary featuring the Hitler family.
This show was shown on German television last fall and will be shown in the United States later this year.
Professionally, Boone has served as vice president of Educational Services at Stanly Community College. Other higher education positions include chairman of History and Political Science at Clayton State College and professor of History at Wingate College.
He is listed in Outstanding Educators of America and in the Dictionary of International Biography.
Boone’s civic and community service engagements include many important roles for the Optimist International Clubs, one of which is past international president.
He has been president of Friends of the Senior Center and voted Volunteer of the Year for the Stanly County Senior Center.
He currently serves on the board of directors of the Friends of the Library at Pfeiffer University, the Historical Society of Stanly County, and the board of trustees at Boys and Girls home of N.C.
