Community college honors Webb scholars

Tuesday, February 2, 2010 — Stanly Community College (SCC) recently held the annual Webb Scholars Luncheon to honor the selected scholarship recipients.

This scholarship program is funded by the Crutch-field Family Foundation and is named in honor of Dr. H.T. “Toby” Webb Jr., who has served on the board of trustees for the college since 1984.

The Webb Scholar program provides 25 annual scholarships to prospective male students enrolled in associate in arts, associate in science, or associate in applied science degree programs.

SCC President Dr. Michael Taylor explained the history of the Webb Scholarship program.

John Anderson, a Webb Scholarship recipient, expressed his gratitude of the program and offered encouraging words of advice for fellow students.

Webb presented the closing remarks, praising Edward Crutchfield’s contributions to the college. Webb said he was proud of the scholars and their accomplishments.
