Thursday, July 9, 2009 — The congregational hymn “America the Beautiful” was followed by prayers of the people and our county at Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church Sunday morning. Rev. Pittman’s Old Testament reading was Psalm 33:12-22 followed by special music.

His sermon scripture was from Acts and was “Declaration of Dependence.”

Oak Grove UMC

Rev. Houser had the scripture and morning message at Oak Grove.

Sunday was also Loose Change Sunday at Oak Grove.

Vacation Bible School has changed this year at Oak Grove. On July 11, the group will meet at Gary and Lynn Shires’ home; on July 12, for pizza then a Bible class for all ages led by Jean Bell.

Personals

Esther Stegall’s daughter Patsy attended church services Sunday with John Stegall. She lives in Florida and came here for a visit with John.

Sunday dinner guests of Coy and Margie Almond were Randy Almond, Misty and Mike, Tony and Kelly Almond.

Pauline Tucker visited with her sister Emily Furr. In the late afternoon they visited with Wilbert and Evelyn Almond.

Pauline and her daughter Pam and her family spent last week at the beach. They also spent some time with Gay and Jack Michel who live in Oak Island.

Sam Eudy, a student at Central Piedmont Com-munity College, was recently named to the esteemed president’s list.

To be selected for this list, Sam had to put forth a great deal of time and effort towards his area of study, fire protection technology, and ultimately conclude the semester with a 4.0 GPA. Sam has not only excelled in his educational career lately, but his professional as well.

He will begin a new career at Albemarle Fire Department and is eager to begin this new stage of his life.

Sam is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Eudy of the Ridgecrest community. He is the grandson of Zula Eudy and the late Jim Eudy.
