Wednesday, November 7, 2012 —
American Legion Post 520 will sponsor the Stanly County Veteran’s Day Parade on Nov. 10. Parade lineup is at 10 a.m. in the vicinity of the YMCA Pavilion Park. The parade will begin at 11 a.m.
Any church, non-profit organization, veterans service organization, etc., will need to contact Commander Gene Starnes for an application. He can be reached at (704) 983-3293 or (704) 438-8135. Commercial businesses may be in the parade but an entry fee of $20 will be required. All fees collected will go towards defraying parade production cost. All parade units, floats, vehicles and trailers must present a theme of supporting the veterans of U.S. military.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 520 and Men’s Auxiliary of VFW Post 2908 will provide the community meal for participants in the parade and veterans. The meal will be served at VFW Post 2908 on Anderson Road starting at 12:30 p.m. Doors will open to the public at 12 p.m.

The American Red Cross, Stanly County Chapter, will conduct its 10th “Heroes” Campaign with individuals who sign up to be Heroes for the American Red Cross by raising $1,000 for the local chapter.

Egg hunt at Locust Town Hall
Mission Baptist Church, Stanfield and First Baptist Church of Locust will sponsor a egg hunt at 10 a.m. March 23 at Locust Town Hall in Locust. Rain date will be March 30 at 10 a.m.
