A bluegrass music benefit for “BJ The DJ” Bruce Jones, who suffered a massive stroke in July, will be conducted from noon-10 p.m. Oct. 27 at Hemby Bridge Community Center, 7604 Secrest Shortcut Road, in Hemby Bridge near Indian Trail.
There will be barbecue place or sandwiches and barbecue chicken plates for sale. Bring lawn chairs. Admission will be a donation.
Bruce is the older brother of The Jones Brothers and Log Cabin Boys bluegrass band. They were honored Mother’s Day weekend for 50 years of playing music together. He had a morning radio program in Albemarle for 22 years.
