Stanly County is home to a new medical facility in Locust.
Cabarrus Family Medicine had its ribbon cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. Monday.
With offices in Concord, Kannapolis, Poplar Tent, Harrisburg, Mt. Pleasant and Richfield, Cabarrus Family Medicine is pleased to be able to open another location in Locust.
“We just want to thank everyone for coming to this beautiful facility and this ribbon cutting,” said Matt Smith from the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce.
“I’m just thankful for the latest advancement of Cabarrus Family Medicine to be located in Stanly County,” said Dr. Charles Rhodes of Cabarrus Family Medicine.
“We’re glad to have this new facility and glad you could all come out. Thank you.”
Melissa Webb, the practice manager, explained a little more about Cabarrus Family Medicine’s newest facility.
“We have two physicians, Dr. Margaret Trzebiatowski and Dr. Steven Lucas. We do family care from infants on up.
“We promote wellness and disease prevention, while being able to maintain chronic diseases. We can conduct minor surgical procedures in our facility.
“We are accepting new patients and can accommodate same day appointments when available.
“Our offices have been open for four years; we’ve been in this building for two months. We opened the doors on Aug. 20.
“We were at the Stanly Medical Services building, between Walmart and SCC’s Crutchfield campus. Having the presence outside of the building with the Cabarrus Family Medicine logo on the side, we’ve seen an increase in patients, already.
“I dont think the community realized we were actually there.
“This is a bigger facility than the last one. We’re looking to grow and hopefully to add a physician’s assistant or a nurse practitioner in the near future.”
Among the many officials there at the ceremony were U.S. Rep. Larry Kissell and Stanly County Commis-sioner and NC Senate candidate Gene McIntyre.
“One of the great things about this job are a lot of congratulations and thank-yous. Congratulations to the community of this town on having this facility and thanks to the folks that make it possible who are working here. This is a sign of the growth of this area. It seems like these scissors have been used in Locust more than in a lot of places,” Kissell said.
“We look forward to the years of you being here. We appreciate you being here,” McIntyre said.
Locust Mayor Scott Efird was in charge of the scissors for the ceremony.
“It truly is an honor to be here today,” Efird said.
“You can look up and see the Carolina blue sky and we have to thank Tom [Ramseur] and the Chamber for that.
“This facility is beautiful and we’re honored that you built this facility in Locust.”
