Downtown Albemarle is about to be invaded by a host of small, strange creatures.
They may appear as superheroes, space aliens, witches, princesses or even presidential candidates.
But not to worry.
It’s all in good fun as the Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation (ADDC) carves its annual pumpkin in the form of the 2012 Fall Festival Tuesday afternoon.
The festival kicks off at 4 p.m. with a grand costume parade led by the North Stanly High School Marching Comets down North Second Street.
Children wanting to take part in the parade will need to gather at the Old Lorch Plumbing parking lot, located just below GHA Autism Supports on Second Street, at 3:30 p.m.
After the parade, children 12 and under will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat throughout the downtown, visiting participating businesses.
Treat bags and maps showing the participating businesses will be provided for the children.
The Stanly News & Press will be one of those businesses and will be taking photos of some of its more interesting visitors.
During this time, there will also be a special Kids’ Event at Courthouse Square Park.
“We’re looking forward to seeing all the area kids come downtown and have some fun,” said ADDC Administrative Assistant Victoria Sites.
“It also is a great chance for everyone to visit our downtown businesses and see what they have to offer.”
