Owner Jerry Huneycutt has been in the auto business since 1978, having made his start at Confederate Motors. Since that time he has worked in other states while his family remained in Stanly County. A desire to be closer to loved ones is what prompted Huneycutt to choose Norwood as the location for his used car dealership.
“I thought it would be nice to be able to live and work in the same place,” Huneycutt said, adding that G-Star Autos will serve Stanly, Anson and Montgomery counties.
G-Star Auto will offer cars, trucks and SUVs in the price range of $3,995-$8,995. All of the vehicles are inspected by a certified technician. The majority of the vehicles are new car trade-ins obtained from car dealerships.
“We work very hard to buy new car trade-ins and about 95 percent of all the cars we have right now were direct from new car dealer trade-ins,” Huney-cutt said.
“Initially, to open up, we purchased in excess of 50 vehicles. We are expecting a very large turnout for tax season and will have access to double that amount based on the response we get over the next 30 to 60 days,” Huneycutt said.
At G-Star Autos, Huneycutt explained that he will work to provide easy terms for customers, with reasonable down payments, to help them pay off a vehicle quickly. In addition, the business will offer its own financing.
“We want to provide a nice, reliable vehicle that people can afford,” Huneycutt said.
“I’ve never really been a car buff. I like people and enjoy being able to help them find the right car that’s affordable for them. The people are what makes it worthwhile.”
Huneycutt is encouraged by the feedback he has received from customers who have stopped by his establishment.
“We’ve had an overwhelming response of people coming to support us and wanting to do business with us. It’s very encouraging.”
G-Star Autos, 12293 U.S. 52 South, Norwood, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5:30 and Saturday from 9 a.m.-until.
