VFW Post, Ladies Auxiliary host Family Fun Day

Sunday, July 22, 2007 — The V.F.W. Post 2908 and Ladies Auxiliary hosted a Family Fun Day event for the entire community June 2 in order to raise funds for their organization. Through a lot of hard work and dedication from the group’s members and the sponsorship of many local individuals and businesses, the event was a great success.

The day’s events included free health screenings, fishing competition, horseshoe tournament, dunking booth, a clown, various children’s games, DJ music and a special presentation and demonstration from the Eastside Volunteer Fire Department. The organization also sold chicken and hot dog plates Friday and Saturday. The Jolly Jalopy was on the premises to provide cool, sweet refreshments for all the Family Fun Day participants. The DJ music was provided by Chris and Jonathon. Twenty-one children participated in the fishing competition and certificates and prizes were awarded to all participants.

The following categories were awarded in the fishing competition: First Place Biggest Fish - Jake Hatley, Second Place Biggest Fish - Dillon Chandler, Most Fish - Matthew Honeycutt, Smallest Fish - Alexis Faulkner, and a special award for “Trying the Hardest” was awarded to Dakota Honeycutt.

The winners of the horseshoe tournament were as follows: First Place - Dustin Caudle and Cameron Faulkner, Second Place - Kim Hartsell and Justin, and Third Place - Bill Smith and Victor Crisco. Horseshoe tournament winners were each awarded certificates, trophies and gift certificates for J.D. Shuckers.
